Founded in 1971, Griffith University is located in South East Queensland on the east coast of Australia. Griffith University’s School of Medicine opened in 2005 with the first students graduating in 2008. The medical school campus is situated in the beautiful Gold Coast - a city consisting of 70 kilometres of coastline with some of the most popular surf breaks in Australia. The medical school works in partnership with a number of hospitals around Queensland including the capital Brisbane and rural hospitals. The Griffith Bachelor of Medicine degree helps students gain an understanding of health, diagnosing and treatment of disease.

Griffith University Medicine offers an MD program as well as an MD/PhD program for aspiring medical students.
This is excellent training for entry into the MD program. Students will gain skills and knowledge in biological and clinical sciences. There is also an opportunity for students to article into a Master’s Degree in the health profession. Students intending to study medicine can apply for the MD program.
Griffith Medicine offers a four year graduate-entry Doctor of Medicine course. The course has a strong practical focus, with clinical placements being an integral part of each year of study. In the final two years, students are based primarily in off-campus health care services such as hospitals and general practices. Students will graduate with a unique skill set to practice medicine locally or globally.
There is an MD/PhD stream for five to ten exceptional applicants who are wishing to obtain their MD as well as their PhD. Applicants will first complete year 1 and year 2 of the MD program, and then complete their PhD before returning for year 3 and year 4 of the MD program.
Griffiths accepts both domestic (Australian Citizens) and international applicants (study on a student visa) for its three-year and four-year programmes.
Graduate applicants to the four-year Doctor of Medicine programme must complete an undergraduate degree or be in the final year of an undergraduate degree by the time of application. Applicants must have a minimum GPA of 5.0 in the last three years of their degree.
Domestic Applicants applying for the four-year medical programme must sit the Graduate Medical School Admission Test (GAMSAT). Candidates must have achieved a minimum standard of 50 in each section.
International Applicants applying for the four-year medical programme must sit the Medical College Admission Test (MCAT). The minimum required score is 123+.
Domestic undergraduate applicants applying for the 3-year bachelor programme must submit an application through QTAC. International applicants for this programme can apply through a home agent or via ‘Griffith University's International Online Application System’.
Domestic graduate applicants applying to the four-year MD programme must apply with GEMSAS. International applicants for the Doctor of Medicine programme can apply through a home agent or via ‘Griffith University's International Online Application System’.
All graduate applicants must submit their application by May 2020.
Graduate applicants will be selected based on their GAMSAT scores, GPA, and GUMSAA.
Interviews at Griffith University are called Griffith University Multi-Station Admissions Assessment (GUMSAA). Applicants will be invited for GUMSAA based on their GPA and GAMSAT scores equally. GUMSAA must be done face-to-face, and last approximately three hours. GUMSAA follows the format of MMI,. applicants will have 8 stations, will be given scenarios that will be assessed by different interviewers.

There are approximately 1000 applicants each year, but only 200 places with 60 places reserved for students in the affiliated Bachelor of Medicine programme. This gives a competition ratio of about 1:5.
